In Matthew 13: 33 - the only account in the Word where the concept of yeast is articulated in the positive - Jesus likens the Kingdom of Heaven to leaven, which a woman took in three measures and mixed into dough until all of it was leavened (worked through). Yeast works patiently and quietly in the dough and causes it to rise and take shape. Yeast is an active agent that transforms everything it mixes with. The text portrays Esther, Joseph, Nehemiah, Ezra as among the greatest active change agents. As a new prototype of God (Revelations 21: 5; 2 Corinthians 5: 17), Saints seeks to exert its influence and impact the Kingdom by shaping the trajectory of society from within ~ we are agents of change / influencers that seek to bring about transformation.
In many ways, this ministry is the hands and feet of the church. It is philanthropic in nature and its focus is on benevolence and the display of care to individuals. Programmes under this ministry include visiting people in prison, hospitals, and orphanages to name a few.
This ministry ministers to people who are grieving thus fulfilling the Romans 12:15 declaration that we should "mourn with those who mourn". It entails visiting grieving families, assisting with memorial service preparations and offering comfort post the funeral where needed.
This ministry combines ushering and concierge services to meet attendees' needs during church services, ensuring smooth operations. Hosts are expected to be attentive, friendly, and firm, preventing disruptions, reassuring visitors, and fostering a welcoming environment.
This Ministry is made up of creative individuals responsible for designing and printing visual content, photography, video and audio production, digital marketing and ensuring the projection of words during service.
This ministry is anchored on the ministries of healing, deliverance and counselling while restoring people back into their fellowship with God.
What is church without music? The Music Ministry, composed of talented vocalists and instrumentalists, leads praise and worship. Following Psalm 150:5 and Ephesians 5:19, they fulfill their mandate by making melody and praising God.
The ministry is responsible for planning and coordinating events at SFC. Its existence enhances the pillar of fellowship and breaking bread amongst saints to emphasise and affirm SFC's motto of belonging.
This ministry ensures the cleanliness of the church facility to a high standard. It is also responsible for the maintenance and running of the facility.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, God, through Paul, instructs every Christian to pray continually. Ezekiel 22:30 takes it a step further by recognising the need for believers to stand in the gap for others to make prayers and supplications on their behalf. The Intercessory Ministry fulfils this role of standing in the gap by interceding before church services and taking prayer requests.
This ministry’s responsibility is to minister to the people who have just accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour; assisting them with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Helper that Jesus Christ promised would come and remain with us until His second coming.
Psalm 127:4 likens children to arrows, needing sharpening to be effective. This task falls to the Children's Ministry, staffed by dedicated individuals who teach children God's word. They guide young ones to follow the right path, ensuring they remain steadfast as they grow.
Our cell group meetings take place on Thursdays from 18:30 to 19:30. They are led by leaders across Gauteng on a voluntary basis. We also have an online group for members outside Gauteng and those without available leaders in their area through the prayer link, which is just as engaging and vibrant as our in-person gatherings.
Our baby dedication services are held every second Sunday of the month. We believe that children are like arrows in the hands of a warrior (Psalm 127:4). Their dedication to the Lord's service sets the tone for the foundation of their lives as stewards of His love and service to the nations. This practice was also observed by Hannah when she dedicated Samuel to the Lords work (Samuel 1:28).
We observe the following biblical principles in our gatherings as a church family and community: Prayer: We meet at 5 a.m. daily on a virtual platform to pray. The prayer meetings are open to anyone with internet access and the willingness to lend their voice and faith to matters affecting the body of Christ.
We believe that water baptism signifies the death and burial of the flesh man's will and sinful nature and the resurrection in Christ. Like Jesus Matthew 3:14, we observe this practice and encourage all believers to follow in his footsteps. Our baptismal service is held occasionally, and is announced in advance so that all those who need to be baptised can participate.
We hold a communion service on the last Sunday of the month. This is an observance of Jesus' command to break bread in remembrance of Him, and it forms part of our church's four pillars.
Although it might seem strange to include it, having coffee together after service has become an important aspect of our community and culture. It is served at no cost to both visitors and members alike, and it is an integral part of how we close the service.
